The Gridiron Geniuses
Week 1 Recap
Week 1 — The Gridiron Geniuses
It begins. It always begins with false hope and high point totals.
Week 1 delivered everything you'd expect from a league full of people who spent all summer refreshing ADP boards: complete chaos disguised as analysis.
Travis K opened the season with 148.4 points, looking exactly like the contender his draft grade promised. Kelce's Angels are flying. Matt S countered with 137.2 in a win that felt both comfortable and deeply suspicious — no one puts up 137 in week 1 without benefiting from an opponent's kicker going 0-for-3.
Hillary T started Hill Yeah hot with 141.6 — which would have been more impressive if the league hadn't immediately started speculating about which of her starters gets injured in week 2.
At the bottom of the board, Derek H (Henry in a Haystack) put up 68.4. Derek has requested that this recap not mention this. We are mentioning it anyway.
Matchup of the Week
Mixon It Up (Joe M) 129.8 over Purdy Good Team (Brock P) 91.2. Brock had the highest-projected team in the league and lost by 38. He describes this as "variance." The league describes it as "classic Brock."
Early Power Rankings Pulse
- Travis K — 148 pts and swagger
- Hillary T — 141 and rising
- Matt S — quiet 137, dangerous
- Jay H — 122, QB paying off early
- Everyone else — we'll check back in week 4
