The Gridiron Geniuses
Week 1 Recap
Week 1 — 2022 Gridiron Geniuses
Year four starts. The veterans are tired of being surprised. They will be surprised anyway.
The 2022 season opened with the traditional reminder that nobody actually knows what's going to happen until it happens — a fact the league relearns every year with great enthusiasm.
Stefan D dropped 158.7 in week 1. The Diggs-centered universe is, in week 1, functional. The receiver stack produced. The theory has evidence. Stefan has updated the spreadsheet with week 1 data and the tab is labeled "confirmed."
CJ W (Lamb Chops) went off for 149.2 — a breakout performance that the league either respects or plans to scheme against, depending on how seriously they take week 1 data.
Jay H (defending champion) opened with 121.4. Respectable. Not dominant. The RB-heavy pivot looks fine through one week. Jay is not worried. He has been here before.
Derek H opened 2022 with 89.3. Improved from 2021. He has pointed this out multiple times. He is not wrong.
Matchup of the Week
Stefan D 158.7 over Travis K 118.4 — the week's biggest upset on paper (Travis was the preseason favorite). Travis K's composure in defeat is genuinely impressive. He said "variance." He meant "I am going to remember this."
Week 1 is data. Week 14 is reality. In the meantime: good luck.
