The Gridiron Geniuses
Week 1 Recap
Week 1 — 2023 Gridiron Geniuses
Year five opens. The parity is real and the point totals are unforgiving.
Five seasons in and the Gridiron Geniuses have developed a consistent week 1 identity: someone scores 150+ and looks like a dynasty, someone scores 70 and calls it "bad luck," and the matchup everyone expected to be boring turns into the week's best game.
Matt S and the rebuilt roster debuted with 152.4. The pivot away from zero-RB is immediately, conspicuously paying off. He is not saying "I told you so" yet. He is saving it.
Travis K opened with 138.6 — familiar, controlled, a little dangerous. Five seasons. Every season in playoff contention. That is the Travis K way.
Stefan D (defending champion) started 2023 with 143.8. The Diggs-centered universe continues to function at a high level. The spreadsheet has a new section for 2023 projections.
Brock P scored 147.2 in week 1. He'd like to point out this is his highest week 1 score in five years. He has already begun planning for the playoffs. We wish him the best.
Hillary T rebounded from the 2022 championship loss with 136.4. Hill Yeah is, once again, operational at full speed.
Lowest Score
Derek H, 74.8. He has started a new group chat. It is called "Injury Support Group." He is the only member. We respect this.
Week 1 is in the books. The season has 13 more weeks to become something memorable.
