The Gridiron Geniuses
Week 1 Recap
Week 1 — 2024 Gridiron Geniuses
Year six. Same league. Slightly older. Slightly wiser. Just as irrational.
The 2024 season opened with an immediate statement from CJ W: Lamb Chops 161.4, the highest week 1 score in six years of Gridiron Geniuses history. The RB-heavy build exploded out of the gate. The room is paying attention.
Matt S (defending champion) opened more quietly than expected — 118.3 in a narrow win. He said "week 1 is noise." This is true. He is also a defending champion and losing is not something he has practiced recently.
Travis K opened year six with 141.2, right on brand — top third of the league, slightly under the radar, exactly where Travis K always is in week 1.
Hillary T opened with 133.6. The complete-team philosophy is producing a complete performance. Consistent. Controlled. Dangerous.
Adam T's round-7 pick scored 34.2 in week 1. This is now the most discussed pick in the league. Adam T is being asked about it constantly. He is answering with a single word: "depth."
The Other Side of the Ledger
Stefan D opened 2024 with 81.4 — a rough start to a season he needs. The spreadsheet has a new tab. It is titled "week 1 sample size." He is correct that week 1 is a small sample. He is also 1-13 in week 1 over his career. That might not be sample size.
Derek H: 69.3. He has posted a photo of his starting lineup. He has drawn X's over three of his players. He says it is not their fault. We believe him.
Week 1 is done. CJ W leads. The season has thirteen more chances to complicate that.
