The Gridiron Geniuses
Week 8 Recap
Week 8 — 2024 Gridiron Geniuses
Halfway. The standings are real now. The excuses are running out.
Week 8 is the halfway point of the regular season and the point at which fantasy managers can no longer describe their record as "misleading." It is what it is. The numbers are what they are.
CJ W: 7-1. First place. The early CJ W narrative has become the mid-season CJ W reality. Lamb Chops is the best team in the league through eight weeks. This is not a projection. It is a fact.
Travis K: 5-3. He has been here before. He will make a run in the second half. He always does.
Hillary T: 5-3, right alongside Travis K. The complete-team build is sustaining through the midpoint. Depth is delivering. No catastrophic injuries. She is in exactly the position she designed for.
Matt S: 4-4. The defending champion is fighting for his playoff life in week 8 of a 13-week season. He has survived worse. He has the fifth-highest points total in the league. He is being tortured by the schedule.
Derek H: 2-6. Derek has been here before too. He has published his updated playoff odds in the group chat. They are not favorable. He describes them as "a challenge." He is going to keep showing up. That is the Derek H way.
Trade Deadline Watch
Three days until the trade deadline and six conversations happening simultaneously. Hillary T is exploring depth. CJ W is standing pat (a very 7-1 move). Travis K is, reportedly, "evaluating options," which in Travis K's history means he is about to do something nobody expected.
Eight weeks down. Five to go. The Gridiron Geniuses are sorting themselves out.
