The Gridiron Geniuses
Week 1 Recap
Week 1 — 2025 Gridiron Geniuses
Year seven opens. Everyone is 0-0. Everything is possible. For about six more hours.
The 2025 Gridiron Geniuses season began the way all Gridiron Geniuses seasons begin: with certainty, then immediacy, then confusion, then refreshing the scoring app every 45 seconds.
Travis K came out swinging: 152.6, the second-highest week 1 score of his career. The Travis K 2025 energy is different. This is the word people used: "different." He has heard this before. He is not commenting on it. He is setting his lineup for week 2.
Jay H — echoing 2021 — opened the year with an aggressive 147.8. The QB strategy is back. "It worked once," he said in the draft. "It's working again," he could say now.
Matt S unveiled the new strategy with 138.4. It involves RBs this time. He confirmed this after the game by posting a photo of his lineup, which contained four running backs. "Thesis," he said in the caption. A one-word explanation. Characteristically Matt S.
CJ W (defending champion) opened 2025 with 127.6 — a solid if unspectacular week 1 for the reigning wire-to-wire champion. He's not worried. He's been here before.
Derek H: 93.8 — the highest week 1 score of his career. His round-8 gut pick produced. He sent one message to the group chat. It was a photo of the stats line. Nothing else. Correctly calibrated.
